Extremenly slow performance

Since the last update on both my desktop and laptop web performance has slowed considerably. Some sites time out, some just don't connect. I've tried VPN on and off, changed security levels, deleted extensions to no avail. I use Windows 10. Is this the future with FF? Time, after many years using FF synced across all my devices, to bail?

Please advise soonest as this is more than frustrating and unproductive. Thanks Stephen

Stephen, you haven't attached any troubleshooter data to this post so I can only guess — but if you're using some security software like Norton 360 see if you can disable its "Safe Web" feature or anything that interferes with secure connections.
