sidebar always open with bookmarks

Up until a few days ago, whenever I opened Firefox a right-side sidebar would open with the bookmark directory - including all bookmark folders visible at all times. Now I can't find how to do that. Instead there is this awful hover feature that has a VERY clunky and time consuming way to find an individual bookmark. How to change back to the prior method? Can I revert to the prior version of Firefox? Thank you!

Len, you can open the bookmarks sidebar by going to the View menu at the top, opening "Sidebar" then checking "Bookmarks".

Another method is to press the bookmarks sidebar hotkey. On Windows this is ctrl+B.
