Having seen 2 versions of Firefox on my computer,i tried to delete one version and unfortunately both have gone. is it possible to recover the old version with bookmarks and passwords?

If you only delete the Firefox application, your profile should be still available, and you can recover your user data. Please read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-passwords-and-data-from-an-old-firefox-profile

If you delete your profile, maybe your should check if you can recover the deleted files.
