How can I open history choices in the same tab?

Bookmarks open in the same tab, as they should. But history choices / sites from the browser history always open in a new tab far away from where I'm at the moment.

How can I set it to open in same tab, as the bookmarks? Open in a new tab next to the current tab would also work.
