Firefox sound set to zero changing songs on Spotify

I am using Firefox on gnome desktop on the PureOS variant of Debian. About three days ago, I went to listen to my Spotify playlist on Firefox, not through the Spotify app. I had no sound, checked my system settings and turned the volume for Firefox from zero back up to normal. The rest of the song played, but when the next song came on, again no sound. I watched the sound settings and when the song finishes, Firefox disappears from the sound settings list. When the next song starts, Firefox is back in the list but volume is set back to zero. I suspect this may be something in gnome, but I thought I would check here in case anyone else is seeing this issue. Thanks so much for any help or at least a shoulder to cry on :D

P.S. YouTube seems to be working?Except it is doing the opposite, when it changes songs, it bumps the volume to max??

I don't have that issue. I was able to listen to a few songs while typing this reply. see screenshot What Desktop? X11 or Wayland? Did you try with Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#search

Try downloading Firefox from Mozilla. Download, unzip, and run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

I am using Wayland. I tried trouble shooting mode and the issue persisted. When I turned off trouble shooting mode, Firefox crashed. I have submitted the crash report. Firefox did not come with PureOS, I downloaded it from the official Mozilla page. I have it set to auto update. Going to do a fresh install...

Fresh install, restored my bookmarks and same issue... oh and I tried Facebook videos, same as YouTube, sets volume to max, I set it back down, play next video back to max. (Oh and it doesn't get said enough, I love how easy it is to install Firefox and Thunderbird, thank you Mozilla you guys are awesome!)

I was looking at some of the old bug reports here re sound issues. I went to my settings and entered an exception for spotify to turn off enhanced tracking protection. It was cool when I tried to play a song on spotify I had no sound... not sound set to zero, Firefox did not show up in the list of apps asking for sound. I removed the exception, and spotify is back, now acting the same as youtube, that is sound defaults to max volume for every new song.

Can you try another desktop? Also try another OS via live usb stick. Your OS using Pipewire for audio?
