Browing language switches to German for no obvious reason

Mozilla is the only search engine that recently has started to display pages and Ads in German. For years it was in English which is selected as the only preferred language in the settings, so its a very recent language phenomenon. What is wrong? It has started a couple months ago and I have been unable to get rid of this problem even by re-installing the browser.

Mozilla isn't a search engine. What is your search page your using?

OK, Mozilla is a browser and it is set to use Google search as default engine. Not only it shows pages using EUR currency and text in German, even Youtube ads are in German. As I'm writing the comment it also shows some hieroglyphic text here, photo is attached.

Sites may switch languages based on location detection, but assuming you aren't in Germany, this would only apply if you use a VPN that connects out through an exit node in Germany.
