Spell check not working

I have read similar questions, but the answers are not helping me.

I have gone to options > Language and clicked on 'Check your spelling as you type'

I have downloaded a British English Dictionary

I've done the config: thing

But still it doesn't underline obvious spelling mistakes

like jfadskdjf sadj one!

And right-click doesn't bring up a dictionary option.

Please can someone help me out? Thank you  :)
