Hello,

I've just downloaded Thunderbird today. I have an AOL email account, but the server name in my server settings tab shows up as imap.mail.yahoo.com. When I try to send an email an error message pops up which reads:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

I used to use Yahoo mail, way back in 2010. I also understand that Aol is now owned/ run by Yahoo.

Can anyone offer any help? As I have only been using Thunderbird for under an hour, please try to explain things as thoroughly as possible.

Thank you :)

I don't know why Yahoo settings appear for an AOL account, but you should be able to fix it by changing the settings in Tools/Account Settings:

imap.aol.com on port 993, SSL/TLS security, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = email address

smtp.aol.com on port 465, SSL/TLS security, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = email address

Remove the passwords, if any, from Preferences/Privacy & Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, check that cookies are allowed in TB Privacy & Security, restart TB, enter the account password in the OAuth window when prompted.
