Over the last several years, certain aspects of Paypal have not worked, then worked again, using Firefox.

Right now, I'm running into a problem I haven't before. I can connect with Paypal via someone else's site. (This had a been a problem in the past, but now, isn't.) However... for the first time... when I go to Paypal's site direct using Firefox, I can sign in, everything looks okay... UNTIL I try to click on "SEND AND RECEIVE". When I do, the whole page goes BLANK.

When I try doing this with Google Chrome, the page comes up properly... EXCEPT, in that browser, suddenly, it doesn't want to connect to MY BANK. Even though in one corner of the page, I can see my bank clearly listed.

I've tried several times calling Paypal on the phone in the last 2-3 weeks, but each time, I get a recorded message saying, "a tech support person MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE". WTF? I suspect the problem is with Firefox... but can't be sure. I have called my bank, they assure me there IS no problem at their end.

So at the moment, if I want to use Paypal via a site like EBAY, no problem. But if I want to send money thru Paypal's site itself, at the moment, I CAN'T. And I can't even get an answer from them. (This is preventing me from buying from sellers at the "Todolcollecion" site in Spain, which I have used MANY times in the past.)

Any ideas?

Hi, try turning off 'Enhanced Tracking Protection' for that site (and if necessary, on each stage of the login/payment process) by clicking the shield icon at the left-hand end of the address bar while the page is loaded - Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox for desktop.

If that doesn't help, disable any ad blocker you may be using (and if necessary, on each stage of the login/payment process) then reload the site.

Hold down the Shift key when you start Firefox to start in Safe Mode. More - Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If it works in Safe Mode, disable any theme or extensions you have - 3-bar menu > Add-ons > Themes/Extensions, then restart Firefox; now if it's still OK, re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit. You may need to restart Firefox after enabling some extensions.

Note: If you use userChrome.css - you don't have it if you don't know what it is, this is also disabled in Safe Mode, so should be regarded as an additional - if unlikely suspect, and can be disabled to test by placing /* before, and */ after the file in the chrome folder, then restarting Firefox.

Try deleting ALL references to Paypal. To do that, open the 3-bar menu > Library > History, then click the Show All History link at the bottom of the list to open the History-library window. Search for Paypal in the Search History field in the top-right corner. Now in the search results, right-click on Paypal, and select Forget About This Site. (Browsing and download history, cookies, cache, active logins, passwords, saved form data, exceptions for cookies, images and pop-ups for that site will be removed). Give it a few minutes to complete the deletion, then try the site (not from an old bookmark) again. More - Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox.

I see under "Tools" / "Options" / "Privacy & Security" some things that could be done, and it also mentions that "Blocking trackers and isolating cookies could impact the functionality of some sites. Reload a page with trackers to load all content."

However, it was just simpler to install & use MICROSOFT EDGE instead.

At the moment, that means I'm using 3 different browsers, for different functions.

Do you use a bookmark or are you starting with the main (home) page of the Paypal website?

If you use a bookmark to access a specific page then instead navigate to this page starting with the main page or with the sign in page in case there is a problem with this bookmark.

Oddly enough, as simple as it would be to bookmark Paypal, I've never bookmarked it. I just type in "Paypal" to Google Search and then click on the top link there.

Once I'm at the site, and sign in, everything looks fine, UNTIL I click on "send and receive". Nothing comes up there... except the buttons "Send", "Receive", "Contacts" and "Other". NOTHING comes up if I click the first 2. Clicking the 3rd, the complete list of previous contacts comes up. I thought perhaps Paypal had changed the design of their site... but, when I tried clicking on one of the existing contacts, again, NOTHING came up. Before November, none of these problems existed. And right now, NONE of these problems crop up using MICROSOFT EDGE. (I just used the site earlier today, via MICROSOFT EDGE, with no problems.) I guess for now, it's the new browser for me when I need to go to the Paypal site.
