Opening Same Tab or New Tab

more options

Hello everyone,

So I am having this issue that I have attempted to fix but when I fix one issue it seems to cause another. So I use MacOS with Firefox as the default browser, both of which are running the latest version. I use SwissCows as the search engine and the problem I encountered was that when I would click on one of the search results, it would open the link in a new tab. As one may imagine, this would get confusing quickly. To fix the issue, I went into advanced preferences and adjusted browser.link.open_newwindow and browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction values to 1 and 0 respectively. It fixed that problem, but now I have a new problem. Certain links from third party email app or log ins from extensions will open in the current tab instead of opening in a new tab.

Any advice or is this just something that I am going to have to learn to deal with?

Since this problem is only with one site, perhaps you can find a site-specific solution rather than having to force all links on all sites into the same tab.

In case nothing else falls to hand, here's a user script I just posted:

To install user scripts and apply them to sites, you first need an extension like
