Which PC syncs to which PC?

more options

I have a normally used Windows 10 PC that I consider my standard configuration for Firefox. I WILL CALL IT PC A. I have another, rarely used PC which I WILL CALL B. The Firefox configuration on PC B is often not as up to date as PC A and may have old and outdated Add-ons, bookmarks, and tool bar configurations. When I bring up PC B and start Firefox, it will quickly start the syncing process (since I can no longer log off of Firefox - a very bad idea, by the way). Whether the sync starts immediately or not, how do I specify that PC B will always sync to PC A's profile and not try to update PC A with its old and invalid configuration?

First don't have PC B connected to the internet; disconnect the CAT5 plug from the PC or from the router; or turn off wi-fi, if that is how PC B connects to the internet.

Type about:preferences#sync in the URL bar and hit Enter. Then use the Disconnect button there. And use the Just Disconnect option in the lower-right corner of the dialog box that appears if you don't want to Remove any Data from that PC. Although that might be part of the solution to your current dilemma with the older data in B getting "sent back" to the Sync server when you do Reconnect.

Then you can connect to the internet without Firefox looking to connect to the Sync server.

With sync there is no master. Any change on one member is shared with all others.

Suggestion: Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder.

Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Now Close Firefox. This is your current profile. Copy the folder As Is to a folder on a thumb drive. Then Copy the folder to the new system.

You would have to remove possible outdated data on PC B before connecting PC B to Sync to prevent syncing this data to Sync. You can also disable some data engines from getting synced.
