Firefox Sync compatibility between ESR and standard Firefox
I have to keep both Firefox standard and Firefox ESR on the same Ubuntu desktop. Both are installed into different directories (locally, not system-wide) and run one at a time.
Question: is it generally safe to use the same Firefox Sync between compatible Firefox standard and Firefox ESR versions, or I shall create different Sync profiles?
(I assume the answer is "it's safer to use separate Sync accounts", but I would like to have it confirmed)
Thanks.

You can use sync like that. But remember you are using two different programs. In other words, add-ons cannot be shared since it may work on one, but not the other.
You can, however, share bookmarks, passwords, and history. Not settings or add-ons.
Note: In case of problems, always create a backup of your full profile.
