Do you mean that you selected Word to open a file when you got the 'open with' download dialog?

In such case is the file downloaded to the Windows temp folder and the file is passed as read-only to Word. If you want to edit the file then save the file in Word under a different name and in a different folder. Setting the file to read-only is done for safety reasons to prevent dataloss because files in the temp folder can be deleted at any time.
