Running 32.0.3 The latest in a long series of struggles to get video to work consistently with Firefox is a strange error message that says I need to "activate the adobe plug in " and it should also be updated. When I click the update or activate link, there is no sign of an add on in the FF list at about:addons. If I activate, and accept the warning message, video works again. What's up with that?

hello, adobe has released a critical patch for a vulnerability in its flash plugin, which is reportedly already exploited in the wild. therefore firefox will block insecure versions from running by default on websites for your protection. https://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/flash-player/apsb14-27.html https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/blocked/p794

please update to Adobe Flash Player version 16.0.0.235 as soon as possible, which you can download from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (use the windows-exe for plugin-based browsers).

As I said I tried to update but there's nothing in about:addons to update? Adobe Flash has disappeared. Is that normal? What's even more weird is if I click "activate" videos play fine. In general it would be helpful if Mozilla would include a tooltip or some sort of indication as to why these messages show up. Leaving us to guess is a bit ridiculous.

the flash plugin will shop up on about:addons?plugins as "shockwave flash" - however that's not the place where you update it - please go to the adobe website i've referenced before in order to download the new version!

That's odd - shockwave flash is a different product isn't it?

@webbrewers

Try my script here, written in BAT so you can see the code:

http://adobeflashcleanup.blogspot.com/

basically, it uninstalls, cleans up old flash files, then downloads directly from adobe the latest versions and installs them. ALL AUTOMATED

hope that can help get you up to date much easier.

Best Regards
