I am not sure this is a firefox program but many of my apps on my desktop [windows 8.0] no longer work after the most recent Microsoft update. Do these apps use Firefox or IE for access? I know that is a stupid question, I am just grasping at straws. I have unstalled 2 of the 3 fixes in the 28 Aug 2014 update. There is no rhyme or reason as to what is not working--some of the apps are definitely internet based but the card games which are resident on my hard drive also o not work.

Chosen solution

Aside from plug-ins, separate programs installed on your computer don't access the Internet through Firefox.

Other programs could be reliant on Internet Explorer to function, so it's conceivable that an update would cause them to stop working correctly.

You should look for support from the makers of the affected applications directly. There's also the Microsoft support forum:

Thanks for your info--I was hoping it would be simple, but at least that is one potential solution I can check off.

Would much rather deal with Mozilla than Microsoft [which is turning out to be its usual "goat-rope"
