Some programs and video files dont work.

more options

Some programs and video files dont work, get a crash report everytime I close, even after an uninstall everything and re install. So I try playing some videos and it gives me an error, which I can watch on Chrome. Soundcloud doesnt seem to work, again works on chrome, and before I could watch WebM's but now it says not supported MME. Also everytime I close I get a crash reporter. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to work. I just happened recently. Also cant play soundcloud. Tried everything, feeling like going to chrome where things work and support is actual support

And just to reiterate, im not sure if this will help but soundcloud and webms and all the video types that wont work on mozilla do work on chrome and internet explorer.

could this possibly and html5 issue?

I think we have checked all the things it is possible to check inside Firefox:

  • Clean reinstall (replacing program folders)
  • Old profile: safe mode, webm preference & other media preferences
  • New profile
  • Flash plugin settings: disable hardware acceleration and protected mode

Firefox does depend on Windows components to decode MPEG media with its native HTML5 video and audio players. cor-el listed some codec information links. I gave a link to Microsoft's media features pack (but this shouldn't be needed on North American versions of Windows).

Some other external considerations would be:

(1) Proxy

By default, Firefox piggybacks on your Windows (IE / LAN) connection setting, but if those are causing this problem, you can change that here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button

The default setting is "Use system proxy settings" but go ahead and try "No proxy".

(2) Firewall (program control feature)

If you have an advanced firewall that blocks individual programs, double-check that firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe are fully allowed. See: Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.

(3) Malware

Our support article lists scanning/cleaning tools that other users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

What error message do you see in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer?)

Im not sure what the web console does, but to maybe narrow down this problem videos on dailymotion and youtube work while others say something like error file not found when it works on chrome
