On the top of my browser, next to the web site name is the - (Private Browsing) title. How can I drop this title off my browser?
I would like to remove this
(Private Browsing)
title in my web browser heading next to the name of my web page I am currently viewing. It is on every page.

Starting in Firefox 20, if you set your Firefox to "Never remember history," it launches in automatic private browsing mode (sometimes called permanent private browsing mode). More info: Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history.
To avoid that, you can try customizing your privacy setting. First, set Firefox to use Custom settings for history here:
Firefox menu > Preferences > Privacy
Then uncheck the box for Always use private browsing mode. You might also need to make at least one other change, but I haven't experimented with this feature very much.
Thanks for that tidbit jscher2000. My problem is to stay in private browsing without the (Private Browsing) declaration on every page I go to view. I know I am in private browsing because I checked the box. I was wondering how to remove the (Private Browsing) title. I just feel it is an unnecessary declaration when I make the settings myself.
For Firefox 20.
Be sure your OS and Firefox version are correctly selected a the top of the following article.
Read the gray-shadowed note then make the setting as indicated below that in the above article.

Hi foxfirenow, I'm not aware of any built-in way to change the text that appears after the hyphen on the title bar. There have been some extensions developed over the years to change the title bar, but I haven't tested any of them. You could take a look:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/search/?q=titlebar&platform=mac
You get a purple Private Browsing mask in the Firefox menu button or at the right end side of the menu bar (Linux: left end side of Tab bar) and "(Private Browsing)" appended to the Firefox title bar unless you are in permanent Private Browsing mode ("Always use private browsing mode").
You need to restart Firefox after toggling this choice.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": "Always use private browsing mode"
Thanks to all. I will go through each one. It is comforting and inspiring to know there are people with interest in helping others with their problems and queries. I appreciate the information provided and the quick attention that was given. Think Peace, max
