How do you make the left-most toolbar smaller. It's covering the download helper icon.
The Firefox navigation toolbar covers the download helper icon in the left.
I cannot grab it to resize.
I don't know what made it bigger in the first place.
How do I make it smaller again? reinstall?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
