website adress bar will not activiate after typing text in box or clicking go arrow

Why wont the address bar activate when I type in a web address? I type in a web address in address bar: www.msn.com (example) and when I hit ENTER. No results. Now using FF version8. I upgraded to 8 because this was happening with a previous version. Thinking the new version had a fix. Same problem.

No address bar activity. I can only click links or go from my bookmarks

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
