Dropdown menu mouseover highlights are ALL remaining as long as any item is highlighted. Have tried rebooting, enabling/disabling hardware accelleration, no luck. Screenshot here: http://i.min.us/idtrzs.png

Is it possible you have an incompatible theme installed?? If you are using a custom theme, try the default Firefox 4 theme:
orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Add-ons > Appearance
