Why most extensions (addons) are not updated for last 2 years that are under "Recommended extensions"?

I checked many, not all, are updated since 2022 and 2023. Chrome updates them and allows them to be usable with newer versions of Chrome and other browsers that support Chrome extensions.

And same addons on Chrome extension store are updated but not on Firefox addon store.

Is Firefox not focusing on security and updates anymore?

Contrary to Chrome, we keep backward compatibility. We maintain both MV2 and MV3 Extension API. While Chrome dropped MV2 and thus all the MV2 extensions needed to be updated or removed from Google store last year.

Security is coming through API updates. Addon itself doesn't have to be updated if it is still working.

API updates?

Good. But I see many, if not all, causes issues in working properly like user agent as sites fails to see the new user agent and detects the real one.

Addon are updated by their content creator not from Mozilla if they don't update on Firefox Addon page there's nothing Mozilla can do about it as well. If you feel their Addon is out dated you should contact the creator to ask to update or revise their Addon.

The vast majority of Extensions being hosted at addons.mozilla.org are made by a third-party author(s) or company and not by Mozilla.
