Develop a new API for Ambient Light sensor

Hello,

I want to develop an app based on ambient light sensor.But I found that the performance of sensor is quite better than the light sensor api. For example, the sensor can get ambient light info. 100,000 times per second, but the api just can read datas 20 times per second. So, that is my question. I want to change the performance of ambient light sensor API. So, I want to develop a new ambient light sensor api. But, I have no idea about how to develop an api based on firefox os. And, I didn't even know could it be developed by individual. So, if someone knows, can you tell me ?
