Help with moving Thunderbird data to a new computer
Hello, I'm hhoping that someone can help me with my migration issue. I've been using TB 78.8.0 (32 bit) for years on an older laptop. I bought a new laptop a few days ago and downloaded TB 78.8.0 (64 bit).
I followed the instructions of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer precisely to transfer hundreds of stored e-mails to my new laptop. I really hoped the transfer would allow the newer TB on my new laptop to show me all the stored e-mails and folders that I had on my old laptop.
Unfortunately it didn't work. I dug around and found that the transfer created a couple of profiles within the new TB in the new laptop. There's the new default profile and the migrated profile. However when I open TB it appears to only read the new profile since there are only 10 e-mails in it.
Can anyone suggest I how can have this new TB upload (for lack of a better term) my old e-mails and folders? I'm not certain if this is important but i noticed that the in the old folder profile/mail there are 2 subfolders; local folders and pophm.sympatico.ca Can this be the issue why I can't upload the old e-mail files to the new TB version? Please help, I use TB for my home business and I really need to access the older e-mails to trace activity to different clients.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Did you do this: On old Laptop Exit Thunderbird Access profile : On Windows OS by default they are here:
- C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
Copy the 'Thunderbird' folder to external drive.
On new Laptop: Exit Thunderbird. Access profile : On Windows OS by default they are here:
- C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
Delete the default 'Thunderbird' folder. Paste the copied 'Thunderbird' folder into the 'Roaming' folder. Start Thunderbird.
