Can Thunderbird have a "Dark Theme" one switch option as in Outlook?
Can Thunderbird have a "Dark Theme/ Mode" one switch option as in Outlook/ Chromebook? Not for entire windows system (ie should be good for FF/ TB etc. under other OS) ...

There is quite a bit of activity about a true dark theme for Firefox, so that may eventually be included in TB. You can follow various issues here.

You could install a dark theme:

I am looking for a Single click option in the default distribution. No addon. And the option/ switch to be on the "front" page of options/ settings.
I know it can't be done overnight, but IMO this is an essential part of future development. From my "user" point of view.
Anyway thank you for your quick answer!

Then you go to the add-on pane and under themes select the dark one. Version 60 comes with a light and dark theme as mentioned in the release notes https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/60.0/releasenotes/

HI, I am using TT Dark and when I do a search within the emails the results still appear with the white background and dark text.
Generally I have dark mode enabled throughput Thunderbird and works great - just this annoying section!
Anyone know the solution to this?
thanks very much L
an email is a html page with it's own background. So the system theme is not going to affect it.
Hi Matt and thanks very much for your reply. I managed to change the background on the emails so that they all appear dark (will include a screenshot) However, when doing a search, the search results only show it as non dark. Is there a setting to adjust this? Thanks for your help L
