My email will not open

yesterday the internet server crashed while I was sending an email with attachment. The email did not send. I kept getting error message. I rebooted and tried again. No luck. Also emails were not coming in on my MacBook but I was and am still receiving on IPhone. Got the spinning disc and then the timed out popup on the MacBook. This AM click on icon and email not opening at all on MacBook but working ok on IPhone Thanks for your help
