In control panel my windows 7 computer tells me I have two thunderbird's installed 17.0.4 and 17.0.5 under help "about TB" it says I am running 24.6.0 and I am up to date. I am confused. Tried to uninstall the 17.0.4 program and then TB would not work. had to use windows restore get TB working again

Any help would be appreciated.

Ignore what version windows says is installed. It remembers what you *first* installed. But thunderbird updates replace the contents of the program folder and windows doesn't know about it.
