With a new update, I no longer have the button at the end of my tabs list to open a new one. I've tried using the "Customize Firefox" page, but as soon as I click "Done" it's gone again. There is an Overflow Menu, which I assume is where my button is being hidden, but even dragging it out of that menu doesn't help.

The overflow menu states: "Drag and drop items here to keep them within reach but out of your toolbar..." Which I think is hilarious, because the very opposite appears to be true.

Does it make a difference if you make the Firefox window wider ?

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
