Unable to import BM from html backup. I have all my BM categorized alphabetically (Folders A-Z w/multiple subfolders). I have these saved back and need to restore them to my FF5 (computer crashed and am rebuilding everything).
It makes no sense to have to go all the way down to individual BM's in order to import to my new FF5. I refer to http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File
Any help most appreciated

What happens when you try to import?
---
Actually, my first question should be: did you export your bookmarks to an HTML file before the crash, or are you scrounging up files from the computer hoping to find something to import?

You're dealing w/an old folk here. Not computer literate. I copied all the folders over to a thumb drive for safe keeping. Just discovered today that when I right click on them (properties, etc) each folder is "html" -- so I have 26 folders and sub-folders that seem to be correct for what I need. I've discovered that if I "drill down" all the way to a specific, individual BM (the one you click on to get to the page in question) that it does, in fact, transfer over to FF5 Bookmarks. What I need is to be able to transfer the whole shabang (hopefully in one fell swoop)...it would take me years to do them individually. Hope this helps and thanks for the response.
Firefox stores all personal data in Firefox Profile Folder in a hidden location.
The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
The bookmarks are stored in an SQLite database file called places.sqlite.
If you found files with the .html file extension then that are not the Firefox bookmarks unless you exported the bookmarks previously as posted above.
In which folder are those files located?
Yeah; I just copied them to a thumb drive a while back. Really don't think there is much hope -- been scrounging around for several days already trying to get things even close to normal. I can live with starting all over again if that is necessary.

Adding to the above, there is another folder you might be looking in: the Windows Favorites folder.
The Favorites folder contains Internet Explorer favorites (bookmarks). Those are a separate set from your Firefox bookmarks. If you like, you can import those into Firefox in two steps. The first step is to copy them to the IE Favorites folder on your new setup. Then second, you can have Firefox import them from IE.
But it would be a smoother transition if you find your old Firefox bookmarks. If you saved your C:\Documents and Settings\username\ folder, you should be able to recover them.
Now that sounds like it may have something to it. Gettin' a tad tired over here--I'll give that a try tomorrow. Thank you Sir!!
