You may have had your browser hijacked by adware / malware through something you may have downloaded and installed. A common behavior of a hijacked browser is random pages opening up as pop ups, pop unders, and additional tabs.

Download and run the Malwarebytes app on your computer AND check Firefox's settings to see if your home page and search engine preferences have been changed.
