There used to be an option in settings to limit the number of processes but it is no longer there. In Settning > Performance you can uncheck the default and perhaps the hardware thing And then have a look at this reddit for things you can do in the "about:" (paste into the URL bar) settings https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/r69j52/firefox_content_process_limit_is_gone/
