Firefox Quantum
I updated to Firefox Quantum, Very fast, good so far.
I now have tabs on top, which I HATE... as do many other people.
The favicons for my bookmarks folders have reappeared, empty grey boxes which serve no purpose and hide about half of my folders. HATE. Lastpass has disappeared... HATE and a game changer As well as a lot of other extensions that have gone.
I have been with FF since 2001 and I am getting to the point that I will be going with Vivaldi, which is a nice little browser. Sad.

Please, feel free to do as you wish.
Release date for Firefox 57 is Nov 14th so you are running a beta version. Do not expect beta version to be the same as the finished product.
Note that Last Pass is very slow at updating their extensions. It was updated Oct 26. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lastpass-password-manager/ Possibly expect another update by Nov 14th.
As to other things, like or not like, there are themes and extensions to change any look.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Fair enough. When I click on non-compatible legacy addons, expecting to find a list of alternative compatible addons, I just get taken to the Mozilla addons site. I DID look for something to take away the nasty grey boxes, experimented a little, found nothing. Tabs stay on top whatever I try. At the moment I am using Vivaldi browser which is fine and just discovered Comodo Ice Dragon which is Firefox just the way I, and doubtless millions of others, want it. I know you don't really care about dummies like me that don't want to learn coding, so I'm afraid it's bye bye FF.

You can use code in userChrome.css to move the tabs to a lower position.
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
/* tabs on bottom */
#navigator-toolbox toolbar:not(#nav-bar):not(#toolbar-menubar) {-moz-box-ordinal-group:10}
#TabsToolbar {-moz-box-ordinal-group:1000!important}
- create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
- use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userChrome.css file in the chrome folder (file name is case sensitive)
- paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window
- make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
You are forgetting that 99% of users have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and even if they did manage to fathom it out would be afraid of damaging their computer. Anyway I left Firefox after 15 years now. Having to understand stuff like this just to get FF back the way most people want it is annoying to say the least. Going the wrong way. Thanks any way, I know you mean well.
yes its looking more and more like chrome (running FF cause i do not want chrome or IE) how so ever it seems Firefox now looks like exactly the same with all the same crap starting to happen so i for me as well its going to be farewell ..and i have a few more reasons... It does not hold my homepage it keeps opening the last page i was on even so its set correctly in settings! and Yes i can not code if i could i would be rich So everywhere just stating change this or that is ridicules, a shame how you guys killed Firefox off .
