Firefox won't download attachments

I recently updated my operating system to OS X Yosemite. Since then, Firefox will not allow me to download attachments from my email inbox, or on websites. I see all the downloads and icons listed with the message "Failed" next to each one. I need to resolve this quickly. Thanks for your help.

Have you tried contacting the service from which you get webmail? It sounds like a problem with a web server.
