Right now I have to open an attachment through a "Download" file, can I open directly without going through the "Download" file?

Right now when I click on the attachment of my email and then click on "Download". it will download the attachment to a "Download" file first before you can open or copy the attachment. Is there a way to open or copy directly without going through the "Download" file? I had no such problem with Internet Explorer.
