Firefox in mac still keep history after clearing it

Hi I met unusual behavior in my firefox 24, I can't confirm if the problem exist in my windows desktop atm (I have some problem with it and still wait for a hardware part) but in my macbook I clean up history and everything (I check everything and every single item in the list) but firefox still remember a lot of things.

For example if I visit a picture in photobucket now and then clean up the history, if I type .gif in address bar a drop down with every .gif I ever visited will show up, with the last one I visited at top...

This happens for other sites, for example if I visit my girlfriend's page in facebook and then clean up history, if I start typing her name in the address bar (as given in facebook) it will pop that url like I never cleaned the history/cache/etc....

Everything else seems to be deleted, like resent sites, the history log and browser cache, but it seems like the address bar is having a memory of it's own.

Any idea on what to do? Cleaning everything one by one with shift+backspace isn't of any help, as it seems the history is from when I did a clean OS install last xmas...

I think it's better to uninstall and reinstall the updated FF.

nop, nothing.

However I use a mac here, uninstall is to take the app icon and drop it in the trash can, so it is not really a complete uninstall.

wow wait, somehow it worked after I posted the answer (I did cleaned history before post, but then opened a new tab and at first it was still remembering, but then nothing!
