scam or real?
today I downloaded and tried to install Firefox but it asked for an activation code which I could get my sending a text message with the word "COD" to 35445 which I did. No code came back. Then it said I could continue if I dialled a 905 number. I did not do that. Is this a real requirement for Firefox? Thank you

Hi Kevin - from what you describe you obviously have some malware on your system which tries to rid you of some portions of your money with a fraud scheme. Firefox is free software, no activiation needed.
Check your mobile phone bill and have the amount taken out which got charged when you sent your note to that number (you may even have ended up in a susbcription). Talk to your mobile provider to block that number and any charges for reasons of fraud. Report that number to your local regulation office to have if disabled.
The same applies to desktop versions of Firefox (the user posted here with Chrome on a Windows PC). Firefox is free, always has been and will always be free. There is no activation code required for installation.
Don't download Firefox from anywhere other than an official Mozilla website or official Mozilla mirror.

Mirror servers are scattered around the globe to help balance the download load on the main Mozilla download servers on the west coast.

thanks all, fairly obvious its a scam be I just thought I would put this out there and let Firefox and their users know this one. Dont know how much the text cost but hope not too much!
