I'm trying to use Firefox instead of Google but I'm very confused. Do I have to use Google Play store to get the apps I use. How do I switch all of my apps from Google to Firefox

You can download Firefox from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/fenix/releases/157.0/android/

You can also check APK Mirror.

Google Play is a apps store for a variety of Android apps including apps like web browsers such as Firefox.

Firefox is a web browser and not a search engine site nor company or such.

That said when Mozilla had a product called Firefox OS. there was a Firefox OS marketplace for things to install on Firefox OS until it was officially shut down back on March 30, 2018.. This was the only time they had an Apps store.
