access to gmail now very sluggish

Hi. I access a gmail account via Thunderbird. It's generally quite efficient, but recently it has become very sluggish. I have pretty fast internet, wired at 1G, so usually my mail appears almost immediately. In the last week or so it has slowed down dramatically, sometimes requiring multiple login attempts. Any idea what's going on? Thanks. Steve

  4. Does Thunderbird perform better in Troubleshooting mode? (it is on the help menu)

Hi Matt. Thanks for stepping in. Answers: 1. 128.1.1esr (64-bit) 2. Win 11, up to date 3. MS Defender 4. Haven't tried Troubleshooting mode. Pretty straightforward. FYI, I've been using Tbird for a long time, over a decade. best, smb

I have the same problem, Thunderbird is gradually becoming unusably slow.

I'm using: v148.0.1 (64-bit) Windows 11

This is accessing Gmail using mbox style storage (not maildir). I have >110K messages in the inbox so it's a lot, but Thunderbird always used to handle a similar number until a few months ago, now when I want to do something in Thunderbird it very often hangs for say 15-20 seconds before letting me proceed.

I see someone else restored the old performance by reverting to v115.16.3, but I would rather not have to do that though.

I am using 150-0-2 on Windows 11. Thunderbird shows I have 10 emails, they can be accessed in troubleshooting mode but still don't show in the normal! Any advice?
