For the past few weeks, my PC reliably crashed after a few chess games on chess.com with Firefox. GPU and Memory benchmarks are running through without issues, it did crash when starting a Steam game once before, but I wasn't able to find out why. At this point, I'm really curious to learn about what could possibly cause this, but don't really know where to look for it. Really wondering what special thing is happening after a game there that doesn't happen with other websites/browsers. Would really appreciate your help!

Running Wayland on Archlinux 6.15.7 with AM5 CPU and DDR5 memory. Sometimes wondering if it's a graphics issue since my display is connected via the iGPU, but I also have an NVIDIA graphics card installed that I use for games sometimes.

Hi, thanks for sharing all these details — this definitely seems like an unusual issue, but here are some suggestions to help troubleshoot.

1 Check hardware acceleration in Firefox. Sometimes on Wayland, especially with mixed setups (iGPU + NVIDIA), hardware acceleration can cause crashes. Try disabling it in Firefox by going to about\:preferences > General > Performance, unchecking Use recommended performance settings, and then unchecking Use hardware acceleration when available.

2 Launch Firefox forcing the Wayland backend. Even if you’re on Wayland, Firefox might still run under XWayland in some cases. Try launching it from the terminal with: `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 firefox`

3 Check system logs after the crash. If your whole system crashes (not just Firefox), check the journal logs right after reboot with: `journalctl -b -1` Look for any errors related to amdgpu, nvidia, or graphics issues.

4 Test with or without the dedicated GPU. Try running using only the iGPU (temporarily disabling the NVIDIA GPU), or force Firefox to use the dedicated GPU if possible (for example with prime-run). Hybrid GPU setups can sometimes cause conflicts on Wayland.

5 Try Firefox Nightly or ESR. Firefox Nightly might already have fixes for recent graphics issues. Alternatively, Firefox ESR is more stable and conservative, so it’s worth testing.

Let us know if any of these steps make a difference, so we can help dig deeper.
