The tabs disappear when i move the cursor. I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN. Please tell me how to stop your browser from making the tabs appear and disappear. I'm really pissed off and I don't need a long-winded technical tutorial, just tell me how to put your browser back the way it was before it decided that I wanted the tabs to keep disappearing, WHICH I DON'T!

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Thanks, that fixed it, but why did Firefox have to f**k me over that way to get me to update the version I was using? Now I have to restore my extensions and re-configure things. Wouldn’t it be easier if you just sent me an update like every other software developer in the known universe does? Why the f**k do you have to screw things up just to get people to update the version they are using. It’s not a polite way of doing business.

Look, enough with the thinly veiled cursing and rudeness! How about showing some politeness or respect to us! The people here are mostly users like you who volunteer their time to provide support to other Firefox users. Very few Mozilla personnel ever grace us with their presence.

Chances are that one or more of your installed extensions was causing that problem. It is quite possible that one of those extensions is slightly incompatible with the latest Firefox version and needs to be fixed by whoever created that extension. Or maybe it was as combination of installed extensions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
