I can't receive any of my e-mails. I can send e-mails out now. Plus I can put in my password to log into my e-mail.  This has been a headache for me, I have been with Thunder Bird for years.

I also get a boxes that says : Unable to write the email to the mailbox. It says to make sure the file system allows me to write privileges, and I have enough disk space to copy the mailbox. I have enough space on my computer system and all. Another box that says my e-mail is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages. I did e-mail you yesterday on these issues. As I said I can e-mail messages out now also log into my e-mail with my password. Thanks, Chris

IMO, it takes time for a Mod to mod it. Then it goes out for some people to see. It's not good for business if there is no wait time, and it a waste of time, if the problem asked, has a answer in a holding pattern, that goes in to a holding pattern again if/when the Post is permitted. Very odd..

They aren't showing in TRASH anymore, or SENT....they are disappearing and I have to check with my customer and they aren't receiving them. Big problem. Please help I've spent hours of research and dont understand much of that and so many are outdated. I've messaged and called various people. Your email was provided to me by Rackspace.

Cannot connect to Shaw email server

I have email accounts that are with Shaw (shaw.ca) which was bought by Rogers. I've had these accounts for years, and about a week ago the emails were not being downloaded and I could not send emails either. The email server is : Incoming - imap.shaw.ca, security type SSL, port 993

                   Outgoing - mail.shaw.ca, security type STARTTLS, port 587, with domain shaw.ca

I deleted Thunderbird and reinstalled it on my desktop computer that runs Windows 11, and attempted to add my Shaw email accounts using the above email server information, however received an error message that it could not connect to the server. I was however able to set up my Outlook and Hotmail accounts and could receive and send messages.

I also have Thunderbird on my laptop (Windows 11), and the Shaw email accounts were also unable to receive or send, although they were receiving and sending last week.

I contacted Shaw (Rogers) technical support and they said the Shaw webmail was operating because I could send and receive using Webmail, but that it must be an issue with Thunderbird. This did not make sense as I also installed Canary and Mailspring, and was unable to have my Shaw email accounts set up in those email programs with them being unable to connect to the Shaw email server. The tech rep said I would need to contact Thunderbird to have them confirm there was no problem on Thunderbird's side.

I also installed the Outlook email program and tried installing one of my Shaw email accounts using the Shaw server specs, and it installed the account and connected to the Shaw email server. I was able to send and receive emails from it. When I used the same Incoming and Outgoing specs in Thunderbird, Canary, and Mailspring, it would not connect to the Shaw email server.

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be and what might be done to correct it to allow my Shaw email accounts to be set up in Thunderbird would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I need to check my Username, Password, SSL, Protocol, Incoming & Outgoing Server Ports. BUT I don't see on my Thunderbird page where to find these: it's my preferred way to do e-mail! I have read several forum questions/answers and tried all of the suggestions with no help. I will attach a screen print of the page I get when prompted to enter password credentials. I cannot go further until I can get TB and Outlook to communicate so I need help. I don't want to use Outlook as an email server if possible.

Thunderbird 148+ on Windows 11 repeatedly prompts for the password when synchronizing an Exchange account (professional) configured with the native Exchange support (no add-on installed).

The account only offers “NTLM” or “Normal password” authentication methods. OAuth2 is not available in the account settings.

During synchronization, Thunderbird asks for the password separately for many folders. However, clicking “Retry” usually works immediately without changing the password, and manually re-entering the same password also works.

The issue then reappears for the next folder, causing continuous authentication prompts (I have many folders...).

Actions already tested:

  • deleting saved passwords and tokens,
  • deleting/renaming key4.db and logins.json,
  • restarting Thunderbird,
  • recreating the account.

The problem persists.

This looks like an authentication/session handling issue rather than an actual invalid password.

Said to wait until processing is complete to get messages. I have never had this issue, I been with Thunder Bird e-mail for years. It isn't even showing my e-mails that I had in my inbox on my e-mail. If you can please help, I need my e-mail up and going.
