I want to access an ip address but Firefox keeps using it as a search string

tricia3scott

How can I get Firefox to stop doing this? I'm using http:// in front of the address but it makes no difference

No worries! The rules should know when an address pattern is valid to navigate or not, so usually that's easy to rely on — and if it can't be navigated it's handed off to the search provider. There can always be an edge case though so it's worth raising this in case the logic failed, but glad you got it working now! —J.

If the address is valid it should work.

Can you open e.g. https://1.1.1.1/ or http://97.77.230.146:8088/ that are working for everyone else?

If you type just 1.1.1.1 in your location, does that also search instead of navigating?

Oh dear! It looks like I simply mistyped the ip address (several times, too)because I’ve got I this time.

Thank you for taking the time to help this dummy!
