Connection was refused
Everything has been fine for several years but this morning I now get error: TB could not connect to server mail.twc.com, the connection was refused. Spectrum says everything is good on their end. What do I have to do to "fix" Thunderbird? I can't send or receive any emails from 5 accounts with Spectrum and the emails are there when I log in at WebmailSpectrum.net..

Are you also using POP to collect your mail?

I believe the problem was Spectrum Internet was so slow that emails timed out. I gave up yesterday and today I opened only TB, not FF and everything is fine now. I looked at the post you recommended but although problem is very similar I didn't notice any solution provided. Thanks for trying to help though, Matt and sorry I wasted everyone's time when it wasn't even a TB problem!
Yes we are using pop as well but I tried using imap as well also to no avail!
