Freezing when changing input language to Japanese

When changing input language to Japanese, Firefox freezes for up to 30 seconds before becoming responsive again, changing back to English produces no such freeze though. This is extremely annoying as I switch between the two a lot, has anyone else experienced this issue? Are there any fixes?

Type "about:config" in the address bar and Enter. Then try to set intl.tsf.enable = false on the about:config page.
