I don't know whether Youtube will allow you to switch to a standard HTTP connection instead of a secure HTTPS connection but, if you are able to do that (delete the s in the address bar and press Enter to reload without it), is there any difference?
More generally, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
- View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Command+0 on Mac)
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
thanks. i tried both solutions and the problem still exists.
It seems to me that your browser has almost certainly loaded everything and rendered it correctly apart from the fact it is completely ignoring one of the stylesheets which controls a lot about how the page looks. Unfortunately, it seems there is more than one version of this stylesheet, but I suspect each version is for a different browser. If you are using Firefox 28 the stylesheet is probably this one.
However, to be sure we have the right stylesheet here:
- open the page in your screenshot and press Ctrl+U.
- In the new window, hit Ctrl+F and search 'stylesheet' (without the quotes).
- One the same line as the first result there should be something like 'href="someWebAddress" ', where someWebAddress is the stylesheet's URL. If this is not the same as the link I provided then tell us what it is.
Try copying the address into your address bar and putting https: at the start (the page should just be text beginning with body{line-height:1;). If you can't load the stylesheet then this will be the cause of the problem. Then try removing the 's' from https: in the URL and tell us if that works.
