Can not check for latest updates.

Why not?

re :Can not send emails through RoadRunner Mozilla Thunderbird.

Please post information regarding current settings.

  • In Account Settings, select name of roadrunner account in left pane
  • look bottom right and click on 'Edit SMTP_Server' button
  • upload an Image showing the smtp outgoing server settings which the account is set up to use.
  • In Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • scroll down to 'Mail and News Accounts' section
  • Copy all the data and paste into this forum OR upload an image showing the data.

When you attempt to send an email, do you get an error message? If yes, please post an image of that error message OR type the exact error message very carefully; word for word verbatim as it may offer a clue.

I'm having the same issue. Here is the error message I get when I try to send a roadrunner email: An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: p-impout001.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net cmsmtp 185.98.168.34 blocked. Please see https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/understanding-email-error-codes for more information. AUP#Out-1130.

Error: The server responded: p-impout001.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net cmsmtp 185.98.168.34 blocked.

Info from spectrum website giving reason for the blocked IP address. AUP#Out-1130. The IP address you’re trying to connect from has an issue with the Domain Name System. Spectrum requires a full circle DNS for emails to be allowed through. Verify the IP you’re connecting from, and check the IP address to ensure a reverse DNS entry exists for the IP. If the IP address is a Spectrum-provided email address, contact us.

Spamhaus IP checker has no problems with IP 185.98.168.34 Check you do not have a VPN operating as the intention of VPN is to hide your IP address.

Try - logon to webmail account via a browser to see if it's ok with IP address.

I have this problem (in my roadrunner email I can receive email, can't send). I contacted Spectrum and they told me that the roadrunner and other legacy email domains accounts were now consolidated and I needed an IMAP connection (I've used POP3 fro 20 years), would need to change my Spectrum password and that Spectrum password would be my new email password. They then gave me several contradictory Incoming and Outgoing server settings, none of which allowed my IMAP account to connect, then pronounced the issue "resolved" and advised me to contact the provider of the "third party platform"

consolidated - Been like that for a very long time - since Spectrum took over, so nothing new. Not unless you were still using the old server settings in which case it would need an update. Depending upon what comes after the '@' in your email address depends upon what server settings you should be using.

and I needed an IMAP connection (I've used POP3 fro 20 years),

They have a habit of pushing for IMAP, so not surprised. But the Pop incoming/downloading connection was already working. You do find help people working to promote webmail for their companies are not necessarilly the most up to date when it comes to knowledge on Pop, IMAP and SMTP. Changing to IMAP changes the incoming as Imap folders can only display whatever is on server. Imap folders should never be considereed as an independent copy because they synchronise with server. Imap is very useful if you view emails on several devises, but otherwise Pop maybe old but it's still very much alive.

Anyway, your issue was SMTP and that tends to be the same whether pop or imap.

would need to change my Spectrum password and that Spectrum password would be my new email password.

It's a good idea to update a password every so often, but unless a server has changed it's policy regarding passwords then password should be ok - It was obviously ok because you were already able to download mail.

They then gave me several contradictory Incoming and Outgoing server settings, none of which allowed my IMAP account to connect, then pronounced the issue "resolved" and advised me to contact the provider of the "third party platform"

Please provide info:

  1. Do you still have the Pop account?
  2. Are you still able to download/get and read emails into the Pop account?
  3. What comes after the '@' in your email address?
  4. In Thunderbird - 'Help' > 'TRoubleshooting Information', scroll down to 'Mail and News Accounts' section. Copy all the data in that area and 'paste' it into this support question, so we can see the current server settings being used.
