I'm trying to sign into my Mozilla account and it asks for the code that was supposedly sent to my gmail account that will expire within 5 minutes. I never get the email...tried many times. Even added their email to my contacts for "smoother" sending.

Did you check your Spam/Junk folder for the reset. If not then the registered Primary email wasn't the email that your using for sign-in.
