Copying account to local folders
Hello dear forum Here are the details: Account type: Microsoft Exchange (via OWL) Antivirus software and firewall used: Bitdefender I have the following problem: I copied the mbox files from the active account (profile) to Local Folders (as described in some forums), both with and without *.msf files (seems this makes no difference to the problem). Then I start Thunderbird, and all folders and subfolders appear in Local Folders. However, when I go into one of these copied folders or subfolders, it only displays a single email. The copied folder is the same size as the original, but no other emails are displayed, and this is repeated in every subfolder. I employed the repair function with no result. The import/export tool NG only copies half of the emails. The total is 4.25 GB. I can only copy the emails manually via copy/paste, but this is very error-prone and takes a very long time. Has anyone had experience copying mbox files and managed to do it successfully? I would be very grateful for any advice.

You, I think, are conflating the MBOX file copy with the issue. My guess is it will be the OWL addon not downloading the entire 4 and a half gigabytes of email to the mbox in the first place. Have you tried opening the mbox file in situ and determining with a text editor (I suggest notepad++) to see if there is the mail in it you expect?
I am incredibly distrusting of bitdefender when it comes to copying large amount of mail anywhere, so I would not be surprised to see it implicated in the issue, if not the root cause.
Have you tried using the native EWS that is built into the last few release versions.(I have not used it, nor do I have an exchange account to test it out with) ESR does not have that option, release does and like you I am an ESR user.
Thank you Matt. The strange thing is: The copied fiele (in this case a subfolder) is as big as its original and we are talking of around 691 MB. And when I open the file with Notepad, it is full of mails. So the file looks good. But Thunderbird won't open the file entirely. It only opens the first mail. Could be Bitdefender? I´ll check and see if it makes a difference and come back.
taspittler, would you please post a screen image of the local folders directory in the file system, fully expanded, that shows sizes?
With or without Bitdefender, it makes no difference. So it´s not the AV. So, back to zero.
There are at least three other ways of copying messages.
How many folders are you trying to copy messages from?
How did you copy the mbox files?
Did you re-start Thunderbird after copying the mbox files?
How did you use ImportExportToolsNG?
