We use Firefox ESR in our environment today, Is it possible to have a policy that would display "update required" message to end-users, or have it automatically update without users opening the browsers.

We don't currently have as way to force updates, but Firefox does support background updates, so it should be updating if it is closed.

This article provides guidance on making sure background updates will work.
