I have been trying to sort this out. I have looked for all type of solutions and non of them work. I have lost all my vital bookmarks and also with this home page my firefox does not back up my history and bookmarks in last 10 days as it should do. Please advise. I have tried about:config and everything else, but this annoying home page is still here. SORT IT please

Hi jego,

(1) Have you checked at the Windows system level for malware or other unwanted programs? You may want to run some supplemental scans. These two free tools are highly regarded:

Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/

(2) In Firefox,

(A) Make sure to remove or disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions here:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Restart Firefox to complete the disablement/removal.

(B) Does your home page revert to the unwanted after you update it? Does it revert immediately or the next time you start Firefox?

If it changes when you restart Firefox, a program may have injected a user.js file into your personal settings folder. To rename or delete such a file, you can do this:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button

Switch back to Firefox and Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename user.js to something like user.bad

Restart Firefox. Hopefully now your home page change will be remembered.

Are there any references on the about:config page if you search for ggle.org.uk ?

If you do not keep changes after a restart then see:
