With my newly downloaded Firefox version, my downloads no longer appear in the Downloads Box. They download, but i cannot pause them, restart them, etc.

You can check the browser.download.manager.retention pref(s) on the about:config page (2: manual).
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
i have the same problem. what's the easiest way to go back to firefox 18,.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.
- Tools > Options > Privacy: Use custom settings for history
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
